On Tuesday, May 19th, 2026, Yorkville University and the Métis Nation of Ontario got together to sign the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for Yorkville University to provide opportunities and support Métis students.
TYRMC President Amie Therrien and TYRMC Senator Paul Irvine attended the event; TYRMC Senator Paul gave the opening and closing prayer. Nicholas Delbaere-Sawchuk played a fiddle tune before the opening. Dr. Julia Christensen Hughes, President and Vice Chancellor, Yorkville University and Chair Sharon Cadeau (Interim Chair, Provisional Council of the Métis Nation of Ontario), signed the MOU. It is great to see recognition and support opening up for Métis students!
