TYRMC Voyageur Paddle 2026

On August 9, 2026, TYRMC hosted their Annual Voyageur Paddle from the Toronto Harbourfront to the Toronto Islands. TYRMC Senator Paul Irvine started us off in a good way with introductions, a land acknowledgement and an opening prayer before we headed off. We were grateful for the beautiful weather. We practiced our teamwork as we paddled across the lake to explore the islands. Amongst the inner island waterways, we spotted many turtles, ducks, cormorants and a swan with her babies.

Before we took a snack and rest break on Centre Island, we had a canoe race. A very competitive bunch and a good race it was! We enjoyed the view while also enjoying some jigging from a young citizen before hopping back into the canoes.

We headed back in wavy waters, reminding us of what our voyageur ancestors would have been dealing with on their voyages. We ended the day with a pizza party and great conversation.

Thank you to everyone that came out and we’ll see you next year!
