MNO Annual General Meeting 2026

From August 12-August 16 2026, Representatives from TYRMC including President Amie Therrien, Senator Paul Irvine, Treasurer Mary Anne Blore and Women’s Rep Tanya La Rush and Programs & Communications Coordinator Atika Irvine-Tench attended the 2026 MNO AGA hosted in Toronto, Ontario.

We were once again reminded of the strength and identity that attending the AGA brings us, seeing so many people there to listen, speak and represent their culture. Many events were attended throughout the 5 days, along with meals where we got to meet familiar faces in person, meet new people, learn about MNO programs and other programs and see all the vendors that made their way to Toronto for the event.

It was a pleasure to attend the Love Yourself First event and the MNO Women’s Council Annual General Meeting to feel the strength of the Metis women in the room, to learn about ourselves and to have a discussion around our thoughts.

The MNO event team did a fantastic job of relocating the AGA from Thunder Bay to Toronto
with an extremely short turnaround, ensuring the event didn’t take up resources needed by forest fire evacuees. TYRMC is extremely grateful for their efforts.

We were able to enjoy meaningful time in conversation with members of community councils from around the province.

It was inspiring to see so many of our youth attend the MNO Youth Gathering, exchanging their experiences with the delegates and sharing their stories. While it would have been magical and uplifting to have visited Kakabeka falls and the Amethyst Mines in Thunder Bay, our time together at this AGA was nonetheless very rewarding.
