On August 8th, 2026, TYRMC joined Council Fire in the 9th Annual Youth Gathering at Regent Park. It was great to see all the young dancers and to speak to people about Métis culture, showing our furs and our sashes. We participated in the Grand Entry where we carried our Métis flag alongside the Eagle Staff and the Haudenosaunee, POW/MIA, 2-Spirit, Canadian and American flags.

We led a dot art table where youth got to learn about the way that Métis, among other Indigenous and non-indigenous cultures, use it to imitate beadwork with the texture and closeness of dots. They created dot art on wooden heart ornaments that they were excited to hang on trees and give to loved ones.

It was a pleasure once again to be part of the 9th Annual Youth Gathering – Thank you Council Fire!
