Program Details:
The Post-Secondary Support Program offers direct financial support to MNO citizens to assist with the costs of Post-Secondary Education.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Currently be a Métis student attending or accepted into an accredited post-secondary program at a recognized University or College.
- Bachelor’s Degree and Graduate level programs (Masters, PhD, and Post-grad certificates/diplomas.
- Case by case evaluation of eligibility when uncertain.
- Be a MNO Citizen or in the process of applying for MNO Citizenship.
- Reside in Canada.
Important Dates:
- Applications for Spring/Summer 2024, Fall 2024 and Winter 2025 terms open on March 1 st , 2024.
- The application deadline is May 1 st , 2024.
- Late applications will be placed on a waitlist and will be funded based on available funds.
- Initial payments to clients, representing 50% of the total award, are typically made at the start of their first term with subsequent payments being released at the start of the second (or third) term after completion of a short questionnaire.

Funding Amounts:
- Funding amounts are determined based on the type of program being taken, enrollment status (baseD on course loads), and the number of applications received balanced against available funding.
- Additional amounts are awarded based on the number of dependents a client may have and whether or not they have a disability.
Waitlists:
- If the deadline is missed, eligible applicants can request to be included on our waitlist and will be considered for funding on a first come first served basis pending availability of funding.
- Waitlists will be reviewed at intervals from May through to November.
Exclusions:
- To receive funding under this program, applicants cannot be in receipt of any other Education and Training funding during the period they will be receiving Post-Secondary Education funding.
- 1 to 3-year diploma and advanced diploma programs considered under labour market programs.
