Health Systems Navigator

Full Time, End Date March 31, 2026

It is the mission of Tungasuvvingat Inuit (TI) to provide Inuit-specific programs that contribute to the health and wellbeing of Inuit, and to encourage and support similar programs for Inuit across the country. With over 30 years of highly successful experience in crafting the design, development, and delivery of a wide range of effective, client-centered services, TI continues to deliver quality programs and services that directly benefit our growing urban Inuit population.

The Health Systems Navigator’s primary focus will be to assist clients that request support with planning and addressing areas of concern while providing community support and referrals for patients and their families. This can include housing, finance, transportation, support groups, education, engagement with clients by providing community connections and attending events and other means as may be identified.

TI’s Health Systems Navigator has the following primary objectives:

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate should have a strong Inuit cultural knowledge. Ability to complete intake, plan of care and evaluation forms with clients. Facilitation, interpersonal and communication skills, caring, supportive, motivated and able to work independently, a sensitivity to people dealing with illness and stressful situations. Knowledge of the health care system and general health issues faced by Inuit. Knowledge of services, supports and mapping of community resources. 

Completion of Undergraduate Degree in Post Secondary education in human services, health services or a related discipline is required.

Three years’ experience is required in relevant community support experience is required. Two years’ experience working with children, youth, families and non-Inuit organizations and health professionals is preferred.

Proficient use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, video-conferencing platforms and electronic records management applications and a clear Vulnerable Sector Check with results acceptable to TI is required. Availability to work evenings and weekends is required. Ability to speak Inuktitut is preferred. A valid drivers license is required.
