Overview:
Anduhyaun is a Toronto based non-profit Indigenous women’s shelter providing services to women and children in crisis. We are looking for a dynamic individual to fill the position of Executive Director. The successful candidate will manage our operations under the direction of the Circle of Directors. The ED will be expected to represent Anduhyaun on various Indigenous Councils.
The Executive Director is charged with the day-to-day general administration, operations management, financial accountability, and supervision of the affairs of Anduhyaun Inc in a manner that is consistent with traditional Indigenous beliefs, values, and practices.
Salary:
$75,000 – $85,0000 annually (base compensation)
Responsibilities:
- Under the direction of the Circle of Directors (COD), the ED will fulfill Anduhyaun’s mandate to provide culturally-sensitive services and programs that assist Indigenous women and youth, and other women and their children
- Partner with COD for the development of ongoing strategic long- and short-term plans which are focused on implementing goals and objectives and ensuring meeting client needs
- Manage day-to-day program and facility operations; presents recommended changes
- Uphold the collective agreement and is involved in union negotiations
- Conduct organizational and evaluation reviews of programs, facility, and staff
- Determine and meet staffing requirements to effectively implement and manage all programs
- Provide leadership and effective management of Anduhyaun’s operation and it’s staff
- Manage all financial activities related to the annual and day-to-day operation of Anduhyaun
- Partner with COD to secure program funding; research, prepare funding plans and proposals
- Ensure the production of corporate records, day to day financial reports, and annual financial audits
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in social work and/or social sciences; Master’s degree considered an asset
- 3-5 years’ experience in the nonprofit sector; 5 years of organization and senior staff management experience, preferably working within an Indigenous non-profit community resource-based agency
- Demonstrated understanding of, and experience working in, an Indigenous culture environment, especially as it relates to issues of Indigenous women
- The Candidate must have a solid understanding of the impact of the residential schools, intergenerational trauma, the 60s scoop and missing and murdered Indigenous women
- Experience working with women and children who have experienced abuse, violence, or sexual assault
- Experience in a unionized organization considered an asset
- Experience with strategic planning and implementing
- Experience evaluating programs and services
- Clear understanding of operational and capital budgets, forecasts, and funding applications
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with, supervise, motivate and interact with staff, volunteers, and partners
- Ability to problem-solve, assess issues, identify causes, generate solutions, and recommendations
- Leader and team player; ability to positively influence others to meet and exceed organizational goals
