On Thursday, June 20th and Friday, June 21st, 2024 the Toronto & York Region Métis Council & our tipi joined the Toronto Council Fire Summer Solstice & National Indigenous Peoples Day event at the Aga Khan Museum in North York.
TYRMC Council & community members had a blast celebrating Métis culture among many other Indigenous peoples, organizations, and groups at this wonderful event featuring performances, workshops, and cultural displays.
One of our displays showed the beauty of various animal pelts! Sharing knowledge about the history of the fur trade and its importance to Métis people is one of our favourite things to do.
We also shared Métis traditional crafts including finger weaving and dot art with attendees. We hope to see you there next year!
